Udo Walendy (born January 21, 1927 in Berlin ) is a German publicist . He belongs to the group of history revisionists who deny the National Socialist war guilt . In addition, the Holocaust is denied in many of his publisher's publications . It is because of sedition convicted several times.

Life

Walendy was drafted into the Third Reich towards the end of the Second World War for the Reich Labor Service , as an Air Force helper and finally to the regular Wehrmacht . He graduated from high school in 1946 and then attended the journalism school in Aachen . From 1950 to 1956 he studied at the School of Political Science in Berlin Political Science and received his his diploma. He then worked as the head of the adult education center in Herford and as the manager of an employers' association in Bielefeld . In 1965 he started his own business and founded the publishing house for folklore and contemporary history research in Vlotho . The publishing house was transferred to his wife in 1999 because Walendy was no longer allowed to run it due to his criminal record.

In 1964 Walendy joined the National Democratic Party of Germany (NPD) , of which he was a member of the Presidium from 1965 to 1972. At the beginning of the 70s he was an internal party opponent of the NPD chairman Adolf von Thadden and was close to the then Bavarian leader and deputy federal chairman Siegfried Pöhlmann , who split off from the NPD in 1972 with the New Rights Campaign. After serving a sentence for sedition , Walendy took over the state chairmanship of the NPD in North Rhine-Westphalia in 1997 . Walendy has not been a member of the NPD since the mid-1980s. Walendy had numerous contacts with right-wing extremist associations, such as the Society for Free Journalism (GFP) and the “Freundeskreis Ulrich von Hutten e. V. “, and was temporarily chairman of the now banned association for the rehabilitation of those persecuted for contesting the Holocaust (VRBHV). Walendy testified as a defense witness in two Canadian trials (1985 and 1988) against Holocaust denier Ernst Zündel .

Along with Germar Rudolf, Walendy is one of the better-known German Holocaust deniers who deny the crimes of National Socialism in whole or in part. He maintains close contact with the Belgian organization Vrij Historisch Onderzoek and was close friends with Florentine Rost van Tonningen . From 1980 to 2002 he was on the editorial committee of the Holocaust-denying Institute for Historical Review .

Walendy was sentenced to prison terms of 15 and 14 months in 1996 and 1997 for sedition, including denial of the Holocaust, and other crimes. Udo Walendy entered for the NPD as mayor candidate for the local elections in North Rhine-Westphalia in 2014 in Mönchengladbach on.

Activity as an author and publisher

In addition to other works, Walendy had numerous writings appear in his publishing house in which the Holocaust is denied and the Third Reich is generally represented in a positive image. These included:

  • As early as 1964 his own book Truth for Germany appeared - The question of guilt of the Second World War , which was indexed in 1979 by the Federal Testing Office for writings harmful to minors because of its description of the processes that led to the war, i.e. it could no longer be publicly advertised or given to young people . The indexing was lifted in 1994 after a long legal dispute due to a constitutional complaint by Walendy, because the Federal Constitutional Court also regarded a presumably distorted representation as protected as a scientific work. The Federal Inspectorate gave up another attempt to index the work in 2001 because of a negative assessment of the chances of success in a new court case.
  • Numerous issues of the historical revisionist series of journals Historical Facts , which are published by Vrij Historisch Onderzoek in Flanders . Its first edition in 1974 contained a German translation of Did Six Million Really Die? ("Did Six Million Really Die?") By Richard Harwood .
  • Der Jahrhundert Betrug (1977), the German translation of the book The Hoax of the Twentieth Century (1976), in which Arthur Butz tries to refute evidence of the Holocaust.
