Ugo Fangareggi (born January 30, 1938 in Genoa , † October 20, 2017 in Rome ) was an Italian actor .

Life

Fangareggi was working as a dental technician when he received a role in the play Ciascuno a suo modo in 1961 by the theater director Luigi Squarzina . He moved to Rome and quickly found roles in film, not least because of his lanky figure, his distinctive, big chin and his sense of satirical tips in comical character representations. He played under important directors such as Vittorio De Sica , Dino Risi , Ettore Scola and above all Mario Monicelli , in whose The Incredible Adventures of the Commendable Knight Branca Leone he was able to increase his popularity considerably by portraying the likeable "Mangold". But Fangareggi was also found in numerous comedies that were superficial in nature and relied on little more than the bizarre nature of his appearance. He used Hugh Fangar-Smith and Ugo Mud as pseudonyms .

In 1967, Fangareggi played on stage alongside Vittorio Gassman ; from 1969 he also shot for television, where he shot for directors such as Pupi Avati , Luciano Emmer and Salvatore Nocita (the series Sapore di gloria ). He was also seen in a Tatort episode in 1976. In 1986 he was seen in two episodes of the action series On the move as Mafia gangster Salvatore. In Ornaro he founded his theater company Gli independenti di Ugo Fangareggi . Since 1998 he has repeatedly written for Mondo Sabino magazine .

He was married to Antonietta Ermini.
