Ulderico Giovacchini

Ulderico Giovacchini (born January 1, 1890 in Florence , † November 21, 1965 in Bolzano ) was an Italian painter .

Life

Giovacchini studied in 1908 at the Accademia delle Arti del Disegno in Florence with Pompeo Massani . He came to Bozen as a soldier in 1918 and stayed here from 1920 until the end of his life. Since the 1920s he took part in exhibitions in Munich , Padua , Turin , Florence, Genoa and Leipzig and took part in the “Mostra d'arte, pittura, scultura, arti decorative” in Rovereto and the regional trade union biennials. He had solo exhibitions in Bolzano, Milan , Munich and Leipzig. His high position as a painter during the so-called Ventennio was expressed in his participation in the exhibition of the fascist professional associations in Rome in 1938 . Giovacchini also seems to have been a member of the Fascist Party since 1926 and part of the Bolzano leadership in 1933. Giovacchini was also a member of the jury of the 7th Bolzano Syndicate Exhibition and won a 2nd prize at the 9th Bolzano Syndicate Exhibition in 1940.

Giovacchini began in Florence under the influence of the Macchiaioli . His pleasing representational paintings are in the late impressionist tradition and can be described as salon painting. In addition to portraits, including 1938 of the fascist Duce Benito Mussolini , nudes and still lifes , he mainly created landscapes . Works by him are in the Bolzano City Museum .
