Ulrich Bittcher

Ulrich "Uli" Bittcher (born September 10, 1957 in Gelsenkirchen ) is a former German soccer player .

Career

Bittcher began his career at STV Horst-Emscher and joined the youth team at FC Schalke 04 at the age of 15 . In 1976 he became German champion with the A-youth of the "Knappen" with youth coach Uli Maslo . He also made his Bundesliga debut as a junior: on March 20, 1976, coach Friedel Rausch used the midfielder for the first time in the elite class - the game at Eintracht Braunschweig ended with a 1: 4 defeat.

From the 1976/77 season onwards, Bittcher was in Schalke's first team for seven years and was runner-up in his first year as a professional. After 168 Bundesliga and 38 second division games for the Blues, he moved to their arch-rivals Borussia Dortmund in 1983 for the impressive transfer fee of 700,000 marks . 1986 began for him an injury-ridden time, he had to undergo a knee operation and missed the entire first half of the 1986/87 season . Just two weeks after his comeback on March 14th, the quadriceps tendon tore in a training accident , making Bittcher a sports invalid and having to end his career.

Bittcher graduated from 1977 to 1981 seven international matches for the B team of the DFB . On November 16, 1982, he was only used in Emmen in the premiere international match of the Olympic team in the goalless draw against the Netherlands.

After his active career, Bittcher managed his own massage and bath practice in Essen for eleven years .

Bittcher is a trained industrial businessman.
