Ulrich Carl Adolph von Bassewitz (Lieutenant Colonel)

Ulrich Carl Adolph von Bassewitz (born July 1, 1729 in Mecklenburg ; † January 18, 1798 in Wismar ) was a Mecklenburg landowner and a Prussian officer . He is the last common ancestor of today's members of the von Bassewitz family in the Mecklenburg main line.

Ulrich Carl Adolph von Bassewitz was born as the second son of Detlof Hans von Bassewitz and his wife Davidia Eleonore Dorothea, geb. from Bülow .

In 1744 Bassewitz embarked on a military career in the Princely Schwarzburg service. From 1748 he served in the Hessen-Kassel cuirassier regiment Graf Isenburg. During the Seven Years' War he was severely wounded several times as a Prussian lieutenant colonel, especially in the battles of Sandershausen , Kolin and Kunersdorf . On November 28, 1760, Ulrich Carl Adolph von Bassewitz said goodbye and moved back to Mecklenburg.

Bassewitz married Sophie Elisabeth Henriette von Barner , born on April 23, 1764 . August 6, 1745 in Bülow, died September 6, 1801 in Wismar . They had nine sons, including Friedrich Magnus , Adolph Joachim , Ulrich and Barthold Johann , and six daughters.

In 1764 Bassewitz inherited the Wendorf estate (from 1789 Schönhof). In 1779 (according to other sources, 1768) he bought the Schimm and Tarzow estates in the vicinity of Wismar . 1781–1791 he bought and sold seven other goods. From 1786 to 1791 Ulrich Carl Adolph von Bassewitz lived in West Bruges in the Bukow office , and then in Wismar until his death.
