Ulrich Hartmann (sports scientist)

Ulrich Hartmann (* 1953 in Düsseldorf ) is a German sports scientist and university professor .

Life

After studying biology and sport at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn , Hartmann passed his first state examination in 1979, followed by the second state examination in 1981 after his traineeship. From 1981 to 1986 he worked at the Institute for Sport Science and Sport at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn as a research assistant, while he wrote his doctoral thesis at the German Sport University Cologne (DSHS), which he completed in 1986 and which was entitled "Cross-sectional investigations Performance rowers in the flat country and longitudinal studies on elite rowers at height using a two-stage test on a Gjessing rowing ergometer. His work was awarded the sponsorship award for outstanding doctoral achievements in the field of medicine / natural sciences at the sports university. Hartmann, who in the 1980s and 1990s accompanied the German national rowing team on several occasions and from 1988 also worked as a teacher at the Cologne Trainer Academy, remained until 1990 as a university assistant at the University of Bonn.

From 1990 Hartmann worked at the Institute for Circulatory Research and Sports Medicine at the German Sport University, between 1995 and 1999 he was temporarily head of the Institute for General Training and Movement Science at the DSHS. In 2000 Hartmann took up a professorship for the theory and practice of sports at the Technical University of Munich . He was visiting professor at several foreign universities, especially in China , namely at Tsinghua University in Beijing (from 2002), Tongji University in Shanghai (from 2004), at the North University in Taiyuan (from 2006) and between 2002 and 2008 at the University of Salzburg . In addition to his stays abroad as a visiting professor, he gave lectures in numerous countries in Europe, Asia, Africa, North and South America, among other things on training measures for sports associations. In 2008 Hartmann accepted a professorship in the field of movement and training science for sports at the University of Leipzig . He was the top sports representative at the University of Leipzig.

The focus areas of his scientific activities include training-scientific aspects of various sports, including rowing , alpine and Nordic skiing , swimming , speed skating , figure skating , ski jumping , and triple jumping . He also dealt with game analysis, talent development, performance diagnostics and metabolic physiology.

In 2009 he became a board member and head of the "Education, Science and Research" committee of the German Rowing Association , to which he had previously been a member since 1995. At the German Ice Skating Union , Hartmann became a member of the Committee for Sports Science and Research in 2000, and at the German Athletics Association he worked in the Federal Committee for Education and Science from 2005.
