Ulrich Huttner

Ulrich Huttner (born May 19, 1965 in Weilheim ) is a German ancient historian .

Ulrich Huttner studied Ancient History, Classical Archeology and Latin Philology at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich between 1986 and 1991 . From 1992 to 1994 he then worked in Munich as a research assistant at the Commission for Ancient History and Epigraphy of the German Archaeological Institute . This was followed by a time as a research assistant at the Chair of Ancient History at the University of Leipzig . During this time, he also received his doctorate in Munich in 1995 with Hatto H. Schmitt with the thesis The political role of the figure of Heracles in Greek rulership . In June 2001 he completed his habilitation in Leipzig with the work Recusatio imperii published in 2004 . A political ritual between ethics and tactics . In 2001 Huttner also became a senior assistant in Leipzig. In 2002 he moved to the Historical Institute of the University of Dortmund and stayed there until 2007. After that, Huttner went to the University of Leipzig as a private lecturer , and from 2008 to March 2014 at the Humboldt University in Berlin . There he was a professor in the summer semester of 2008 and was then a lecturer at the Institute for History and research assistant in the theological faculty until March 2014. Since April 2014 he has been a W2 professor at the University of Siegen .

His brother was the historian Markus Huttner .
