Ulrich Schilling von Cannstatt (* 1485 ; † October 11, 1552 in Rothenburg ob der Tauber ) was heir gift in Swabia , Lord of Tübingen and Doctor juris.

Live and act

On October 6th, 1628 he received from Emperor Charles V the lean-back to the inheritance gift office in Swabia. In 1532 he wanted to sell his share in Wielandstein to Heinrich Schilling in Cannstatt . This purchase does not seem to have come about because, according to another document in 1533, on the Monday after the exaltation of the cross with his brother Bertold, he sold the Wielandstein estate to the municipality of Oberlenningen for 2100  fl . In 1540 and 1542 he claimed the foundation of his ancestors in Neuffen from the Duke of Württemberg.

In 1546, during the Schmalkaldic Religious War , when Duke Ulrich von Württemberg and other princes fell out of favor with Emperor Charles V, he was bailiff of Tübingen and, together with the local bailiff, Sigmund Herter von Herteneck , defended Tübingen Castle for a long time and steadfastly against the Imperial, although the castle was asked to surrender three times.

On January 8, 1547, Duke Ulrich was pardoned by the emperor at a footfall of his embassy and installed in his country, whereupon he came from Twiel to Tübingen on January 12, 1547 to receive the homage in the city that was due to the imperial to thank the knights who had received the castle with him. In 1548 he appeared on behalf of the knighthood at the Württemberg Landtag in Nürtingen . He died on October 11, 1552 in Rothenburg ob der Tauber with his brother, who was a commentator for the Order of Malta there, and has an epitaph in the St. Martin's Church in Kirchheim unter Teck .

His wife was Anna Späth von Sulzburg († November 23, 1586), who was married to Hans von Remchingen , Obervogt zu Kirchheim, who drowned on February 28, 1576 at the age of 61 in the Lauter .
