Ulrich Seidenberger

Ulrich Seidenberger (born March 20, 1961 in Offenbach ) is a German diplomat . He has been ambassador to the FAO, the WFP and the IFAD since September 2018 .

Life

After graduating from the Erasmus-Grasser-Gymnasium in Munich , Ulrich Seidenberger studied law , passed the first state examination in 1987 and the second state examination in 1990 . In July 1992 he was at the Law Faculty of the Bavarian Julius Maximilian University in Würzburg with a thesis on The diplomatic and consular immunities and privileges to Dr. iuris utriusque (Doctor of Both Rights).

Seidenberger is married and has two children.

career

Seidenberger joined the Foreign Service in May 1992 and completed an attaché training at the Foreign Office in Bonn by May 1993 . After working as a consultant in the State Secretariat of the Foreign Office, he became Deputy Head of the German Embassy in Kingston , Jamaica in May 1994 . In September 1997, Seidenberger moved to the German Embassy in Bucharest , Romania, as head of the legal and consular department . From November 1999 to June 2002 he worked as a political advisor in the OSCE and Council of Europe departments in the Foreign Office, then moved, also as a political advisor, to the Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York , USA, and was deputy from July 2005 to June 2009 Coordinator for personnel policy in international organizations at the Federal Foreign Office.

Seidenberger's next assignment was from July 2009 to June 2012 as deputy director at the German Embassy in Helsinki , Finland . From July 2012 to July 2015, Seidenberger headed the "International Civil, Commercial and Tax Law" department at the Foreign Office and then moved to the Permanent Mission of the Federal Republic of Germany to the United Nations Office and the other international organizations in Geneva , Switzerland . He stayed there until July 2018. During this time he was elected Chairman of the Administrative Council of the International Labor Organization (ILO) in July 2016 . He held this office until June 2017.

Since September 2018, Seidenberger has been Permanent Representative of the Federal Republic of Germany to the United Nations (UN) organizations in Rome, Italy, with the rank of Ambassador .
