Ulrich Maximilian Le Tanneux of Saint-Paul-Illaire

Ulrich Maximilian Le Tanneux von Saint-Paul-Illaire (born April 14, 1833 in Berlin ; † October 21, 1902 in Fischbach , Riesengebirge ) was a naval officer and member of the German Reichstag .

Life

Von Saint-Paul-Illaire attended the Collège Francais , the Joachimsthalsche Gymnasium in Berlin and the royal naval school. In 1849 he joined the Prussian Navy , later he served for three years in the British Royal Navy and taught at the Navy School. He retired from the Navy with the rank of Corvette Captain . He took part in the German-Danish War on board the SMS Grille (1857) .

For many years he was adjutant to the prince and admiral of the German fleet, Adalbert von Prussia . Because of an estate in Fischbach, he was a member of the district council and head of the Fischbach office.

From 1874 to 1877 he was a member of the German Reichstag for the constituency administrative district Potsdam 6 ( Niederbarnim ) and the German Reich Party .

He later became court marshal. 1883–85 he was president of the Association for the Promotion of Horticulture in Berlin and from 1885 president of the newly founded Association of German Rose Friends. Around 1878 he had a villa built by the architects Hermann Ende and Wilhelm Böckmann in Fischbach , later owned by Baroness Thea von Wartenberg, then Villa Anna Aichinger, now Pałac Dębowy.

In April 1892 von Saint-Paul-Illaire was a co-founder of the German Dendrological Society in Karlsruhe, of which he became the first chairman . He held this office until his death.
