Umwangs is part of the municipality of Aitrang in the Swabian district of Ostallgäu .
geography
The village of Umwangs is located in the Bavarian Allgäu planning region three kilometers north of Aitrang at an altitude of 758 meters.
history
The place was part of the Reichsvogtei of the monastery St. Mang (Füssen) , which held the lower jurisdiction since 1227 . Aitring formed with binning , Görwangs , coins Ried the "bottom advocacy" and Umwangs. The Reichsvogtei had been pledged several times and was the last to be acquired by the Princely Monastery of Kempten in 1524 . The place fell in the Reichsdeputationshauptschluss 1803 to the princes Oettingen-Wallerstein . With the Rhine Confederation Act 1806, the place came to the Kingdom of Bavaria . Since the establishment of the community Huttenwang with the Bavarian community edict of 1818, Umwangs belonged to this community together with the hamlets of Neuenried and Wolfholz. On the occasion of the municipal area reform , the municipality of Huttenwang was incorporated into Aitrang on May 1, 1978.
