Munzenried is part of the municipality of Aitrang in the Swabian district of Ostallgäu .

geography

The village is located in the Bavarian planning region Allgäu , two kilometers northwest of Aitrang.

history

The place was part of the Reichsvogtei of the monastery St. Mang (Füssen) , which held the lower jurisdiction since 1227 . Aitring formed the "lower bailiwick" with Umwangs , Görwangs , Munzenried and Binnings . The Reichsvogtei had been pledged several times and was the last to be acquired by the Princely Monastery of Kempten in 1524 . The place fell in the Reichsdeputationshauptschluss 1803 to the princes Oettingen-Wallerstein . With the Rhine Confederation Act 1806, the place came to the Kingdom of Bavaria . Since the establishment of the municipality of Aitrang with the Bavarian municipal edict of 1818, Münzenried has belonged to this municipality. The local chapel dedicated to the Holy Trinity was built in 1837.
