Accident Hospital Salzburg

The AUVA - Unfallkrankenhaus Salzburg ( UKH Salzburg for short ) is located in the state capital Salzburg . The supporting organization is the Allgemeine Unfallversicherungsanstalt (AUVA).

location

The hospital is on the Neustadt side, in the Am Stein district , at the Nonntaler Brücke (Karolinenbrücke) and at the end of Steingasse at the foot of the Kapuzinerberg .

As a special hospital for emergency medicine and trauma surgery , its catchment area includes the entire Flachgau , Tennengau and the neighboring areas of Upper Austria and Bavaria . Also from the rest of the province of Salzburg are cases that the district hospitals Bischofshofen and Zell am See overload, particularly sports injuries brought into the winter season, to Salzburg. The Salzburg State Hospital therefore has a relatively small emergency department.

Treatment spectrum

The spectrum of treatment ranges from the operative and conservative treatment of bone, joint and soft tissue injuries to arthroscopic techniques in the surgical treatment of joint injuries and the treatment of cranial, spinal, thoracic, abdominal and pelvic injuries, also on an interdisciplinary basis in relation to the Appropriate consultation subjects, especially for patients with multiple trauma. The UKH also deals with replantations and plastic reconstructive interventions using microsurgical techniques as well as the prosthetic treatment of joints.

In 2013, the hospital treated 39,952 outpatient cases and 5,621 inpatient cases. In the same year 4,442 operations and 4,748 wound treatments took place. 13,696 new plasters were applied and 15,142 patients were treated with existing plasters.

history

In 1950 the construction of the general insurance company accident hospital began and on November 23, 1953 the accident hospital in Salzburg opened. It is disputed whether the building should be seen as an “asset” or as an “architectural sin” of the reconstruction period after the Second World War .

In the 1970s and 1990s, the house was regularly adapted to new medical standards. In 1977, replantation surgery was introduced as a new treatment method. A permanent replantation service has started.

A year later an occupational therapy facility was set up .

Between 1983 and 1986, the helicopter rescue pilot attempt was started in Austria together with AUVA (without ICAO code).
