(5654) Terni is an asteroid of the main belt , which on 20 May 1993 by the Italian Amateur Astronomers Antonio Vagnozzi at Santa Lucia Stroncone Observatory ( IAU code was discovered 589).

The celestial body was named after the city of Terni in the Italian region of Umbria .
