Unicode block number characters

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Unicode block numerals (Number Forms, U + 2150 to U + 218F) character to number representation, and consists of two parts.

In the first part there are various, frequently used, common fractions , namely the ones that cannot be shortened with the denominator 3, 5, 6 and 8. Since ¼, ½ and wurden were already defined in ISO 8859-1 and thus in the Unicode block Latin-1 , Supplement , they are no longer included here. There is also a counter 1 with a fraction bar, with which you can combine any subscript numbers from the Unicode block superscript and subscript , e.g. B. ⅟₁₆.

In addition, there is a fraction line in the Unicode block General punctuation at position U + 2044 , with which other fractions can be represented by adding superscript numbers, e.g. B. ⁷⁷⁄₇₈.

The second part contains Roman numerals , which are mostly made up of Latin letters, but are grouped together to form one character, which also makes it possible to distinguish them graphically (e.g. by means of solid lines above and below the Roman number how to do this many times by hand). Above all, however, these characters are suitable for representation in East Asian texts, especially with vertical writing .
