Remarks

Contradictory

The official English Unicode terms are not unanimously approved. Obviously, it is difficult to find a short equivalent for the original Chinese-language meaning. There is also a contradiction, which is expressly pointed out in the official Unicode texts: "... The names for the monogram and digram symbols are incorrect translations of the usual Chinese names ..."

The double broken line ( TXJ 3.svg), the only monogram available, is valid for 'earth' according to the Unicode name, but is usually associated with 'human' ( , rén ), while the single broken line ( TXJ 2.svg), although it is used here for 'human' stands, rather to be interpreted as 'earth' ( , ). The unbroken line ( TXJ 1.svg) stands for heaven ( , tiān ). More on this is explained at Taixuanjing .

Since the Unicode block is described here, the Unicode designations are also used here, regardless of their questionability.

Combinatorial

This Unicode block contains a monogram for earth ( TXJ 3.svg), but no monograms for people ( TXJ 2.svg) or for heaven ( TXJ 1.svg).

In the Unicode block there are the five digrams heavenly earth ( TXJ 31.svg), human earth ( TXJ 32.svg), earthly heaven ( TXJ 13.svg), earthly man ( TXJ 23rd svg) and earthly earth ( TXJ 33.svg), but not the likewise conceivable combinations of heavenly heaven ( TXJ 11.svg), heavenly person ( TXJ 21.svg), human heaven ( TXJ 12.svg) or human person ( TXJ 22.svg).

There are no trigrams at all in the Tai Xuan Jing system. Of all the theoretically possible 120 symbols, 33 (2 monograms, 4 digrams, 3 3 = 27 trigrams) are not defined as Tai-Xuan-Jing symbols.

In contrast, the Unicode block Various Symbols (2600 to 26FF) contains the two monograms for Yīn ( TXJ 2.svg) and Yáng ( TXJ 1.svg), which are not defined here , and there are also the glyphs for those four Sìxiàng digrams and eight Bāguà trigrams , which are made up of the two lines make for Yīn and Yáng . Those 19 trigrams that the double broken line ( TXJ 3.svg) would be involved in building are undefined in Unicode. More on this is explained in detail in the article Taixuanjing .

restrictions

Symbols with a similar meaning have been given names from Unicode whose semantic meaning occasionally overlaps, as in (GATHERING, GATHERING IN, MASSING, ACCUMULATION) or (DARKENING, DIMMING).

If - as is the case here - a short German-language text equivalent is sought for the English Unicode names instead of following the original Chinese meanings, a further coarsening inevitably results.

In some cases, a simple translation into German is very imprecise; while, for example, CHANGE nor the similar terms change, wech development AC / (down) (An) change, (Off) exchange offer could be for CONTENTION not only competition use, but also armed, battle of words, competition, rivalry; Assertion . For fostering (not fosterage!) Are terms such as promotion, nurturing, Pflegung, favoring, rearing. AGGRAVATION means difficulty, aggravation, aggravation, annoyance.

Seen in this way, the meanings given here under the description are to be understood only as one of several possible approximations to the official designation .

Character set

If the fonts used do not support these code points, fonts containing such characters can be downloaded from the Internet, for example the freeware font 'CODE2001' also contains the Tai-Xuan-Jing symbols.
