Classification principles

The Rating Center is part of the Artists Trade Union of Russia and has the status of an independent professional jury, free to make its decisions and assessments. An artist is classified on the basis of all available information about the work, biographies, exhibitions, collections and sales, catalogs, information on the Internet and the press, art historians and the opinion of art managers and the public, etc. United Art Rating consists of two parts:

  • the Russian Art Rating (artists from the Russian sphere and Russian emigrants);
  • the international artists rating (artists from all over the world from the eighteenth to twenty-first centuries whose art is part of the world's cultural heritage).

The artists are divided into the categories "A" and "B". An artist in category "A" exercises his art free from market constraints. An artist in category "B" is mainly oriented towards the art market. Each category has levels (the top ones are for recognized famous artists who have passed away and whose works of art are in many museums down to the bottom seventh level, which is for amateurs).

An artist is classified on the basis of the following criteria: artistic class of the work, humanistic status, professionalism, exhibitions, presence in museums, public recognition, galleries, the opinion of art critics, social and civil significance of the work, sales value of the works, etc. United Art Rating gives recommendations for the prices of works of art for buying and selling.
