The University of Zululand ( English : University of Zululand ), UZ or Unizulu for short , is a state comprehensive university - university in the district of Zululand ( South Africa ) and the only university in the northern part of the province of KwaZulu-Natal .
The University of Zululand goes back to a local faculty of the University of South Africa founded in 1960 and has been an independent university since 1970. Since 1993, African and international university partnerships have been increasingly expanded, which is why a high percentage of students today come from neighboring countries such as Namibia , Nigeria , Kenya , Lesotho and Swaziland . The University of Zululand is a comprehensive college with both entrepreneurial and professional training.

Unizulu is headed by a rector and a vice-chancellor; the management also includes a vice-rector, an auditor and a CFO . The chancellor has representative and symbolic tasks. The management is responsible to the University Council, which sets the guidelines and is responsible for financial planning and academic affairs.
The university campus and the adjoining student dormitories were built in the architectural style of the early 1960s; all university facilities are located on the main campus. In 2009, a second campus opened in Richards Bay as a city campus. The university is divided into four faculties :
