The University Clinic Knappschaftskrankenhaus Bochum is a hospital in Langendreer .

history

Knappschaftskrankenhaus Bochum-Langendreer
Knappschaftskrankenhaus from Helenenturm in Witten

The hospital was opened in 1909 as a hospital for the municipality of Langendreer . On February 1, 1918, for financial reasons on the part of the municipality of Langendreer, the General Knappschaftsverein zu Bochum became the sponsor of the clinic, and from then on the hospital was also called KK3 according to a census until the very recent past . Indirect successor of the miners' association is under the name Miners today's German pension Miners underground lake .

The hospital had 150 beds in 1909, 400 in 1931 and 540 in 1970. In 1972 the last part of the old hospital was declared the first part of the new hospital; the other bed-carrying buildings were replaced by a high-rise building, the total number of beds of 558 beds changed only slightly. Particularly noticeable is the roof of the building, which makes an unfinished impression. It appears that the construction of another floor has suddenly been abandoned.

Since 1977 the Knappschaftskrankenhaus Bochum-Langendreer has been a (non-state) university clinic of the Ruhr University Bochum within the framework of the Bochum model , since 2008 it has been part of the University Clinic of the Ruhr University Bochum .
