Untereßfeld is a district of the town of Bad Königshofen in Grabfeld in the Lower Franconian district of Rhön-Grabfeld ( Bavaria ).
geography
The place is in the Lower Franconian part of the Grabfeld near the border with the Free State of Thuringia ( Heldburger Land ). Not far from the village, the two source rivers unite to form the Franconian Saale .
history
In 741 Untereßfeld appeared for the first time as "Eichesfeld". In 823, Emperor Ludwig the Pious confirmed the donation of a St. Martin's Church in Untereßfeld. This church may have been one of 14 Martinskirchen that Bishop Willibrord , who died in 739, had built. Pastoral care in 13 villages in the area was carried out from the “original parish” of Untereßfeld. A pastor in Untereßfeld was mentioned for the first time in 1229. In 1540 a castle in Untereßfeld was mentioned, which today has completely disappeared. In 1575 a new schoolhouse was built in the real time , and in 1611 a new parsonage.
In 1603 there was a long-standing legal dispute between the Würzburg prince-bishop and the village lords, the brothers of Ostheim zu Friesenhausen , which the Imperial Chamber Court finally had to settle after the emperor had intervened because of a rabbit "pledged" by the prince-bishop's official Königshof in Untereßfelder district . Incidentally, a map made because of this dispute contains the oldest traditional views of the villages south of Königshofens.
In 1803 Untereßfeld, which previously belonged to the Würzburg monastery ( Königshofen office ), was secularized in favor of Bavaria . In the Peace of Pressburg in 1805 the place was given to Archduke Ferdinand of Tuscany to form the Grand Duchy of Würzburg , with which it finally fell to Bavaria in 1814 . In the course of the administrative reforms in Bavaria, the municipality of Untereßfeld came into being with the municipal edict of 1818 .
In 1969 an association school was established on the road to Obereßfeld, which children from twelve localities attend from now on. On January 1, 1972 Untereßfeld was incorporated into the town of Bad Königshofen in Grabfeld.
Culture and sights
regional customs
In 1991 the 1250th anniversary was celebrated with a large historical village festival.
Attractions
In 1618 one of the most beautiful half-timbered houses in the Grabfeld was built on the church square that characterizes the town. The house now owned by Inge Warmuth is particularly remarkable because of the ornamental design of the gable structure. The farmhouse of the Zirkelbach family at the entrance to the village is even older if you are coming from Königshofen. It is one of the most important objects of monument protection in Rhön-Grabfeld.
