Origining is a district of the town of Schelklingen in the Alb-Donau district in Baden-Württemberg . The hamlet is located west of Schelklingen in a bend in the valley of the Urdonau at the source of the Urspring , which flows 580 m into the Schelklinger Ach , which rises further south .
history
The place is mentioned for the first time in 1127 when the Lords of Schelklingen donated the place with a Ulrichskirche to the monastery Sankt Georgen in the Black Forest , which established a Benedictine priory here before 1179 .
The bailiwick was later with the Counts of Berg and Austria . The monastery fell to Württemberg in 1805 and was abolished in 1806. Until 1808 the place was the seat of an upper office . From 1832 to 1906/07, Urspring was the home of the Urspring cotton weaving mill . In 1930, the Urspring School was set up in the former monastery buildings .
