Ute Guzzoni (born November 2, 1934 in Greifswald ) is a German philosopher and professor of philosophy at the Albert Ludwigs University of Freiburg .

Act

Ute Guzzoni teaches as a professor emeritus for philosophy at the University of Freiburg i. Br. The doctorate took place in 1961 on Hegel's " Science of Logic ", the habilitation in 1969 on Aristotle 's ontology . She retired in 2000.

Main areas of work: Examination of occidental metaphysics and reflections on a different way of thinking, for example on the relationship between concept and image .

From different perspectives and with different accents, Ute Guzzoni tries to show the main features of our human existence in a world beyond the subject-object relationship. This “landscape” way of thinking is characterized by otherness, contradiction and chance. It deliberately leaves the traditional level of abstract philosophizing and searches for its evidence in images ( e.g. of stars and stones ), in stories (e.g. of Odysseus ) and elementary experiences (such as those of water and desert ). Her reflections on otherness, diversity, togetherness remain - both in the outcome of poems and in dealing with the philosophical tradition - in the area of concrete experiences.

In 1984 Guzzoni was elected to the city council of Freiburg as a representative of the peace list.
