Uwe Block (born July 4, 1946 in Bordesholm ; † March 13, 2009 in Sigmaringen ) was a German music publisher , music producer and artist manager .

Live and act

The trained industrial clerk took over the management of Supermax in 1976 and experienced the hit Lovemachine with the pop band in 1978 . In the 1980s, the Led Zeppelin fan’s predilection for hard rock came to fruition in the form of the management takeover of the Berlin band Karo, which only made one album. The connection came through the producer Peter Hauke, who counted both Supermax and Karo among his customers in his Frankfurt studio .

In 1984 he founded Mainhattan Musikverlag GmbH and Mainhattan Music Production GmbH. He also teamed up with Bill Franzblau and Richard Sanders from New York to form BFS Management. His protégés as a publisher, manager or producer in the late 1980s and early 1990s included the hard rock bands Craaft (like their predecessor Tokyo), Roko, Laos , The Mustard Seeds and the Swedish Treat . In contrast, he had a resounding success with a rather soft Austrian band, namely with Opus . He was also able to participate in the world career of the Scorpions from 1992 to 1997 by taking care of the European business of the Hanover Group in cooperation with the American star management McGhee Entertainment . His long friendship with the Iron Maiden manager shows that he was not always interested in financial gain in his foreign activities. Between 2004 and 2007 he was in charge of the Swiss hard rock band Gotthard . During this time he brought her together with Fredrik Thomander and Anders Wikström. Steve Lee from Gotthard wrote songs together with the songwriter - and later the Treat musician duo, so that material for both records was created.

An advertising agency was added to the three companies in 1993 . It was called Mainhattan Media - Music & Communication GmbH, based in Obertshausen near Offenbach . She received orders from well-known brands such as Mustang Jeans , Mercedes-Benz , Lufthansa , Media Markt , Aventis Pharma and Berentzen . For Mustang he developed an all- round media concept under the name JAM - Jeans And Music, with a presence in the print, radio, music television and festival sponsorship segments. Media Markt also relied on this concept and in May 1999 broadcast Mainhattan Media the continuation of its customer magazine Vision , which was called Hotvision from August 1999 and found its way onto the Internet in 2001.

Block had friendly contacts with many industry representatives across Germany, including concert organizer Ossy Hoppe . After retiring from the industry, he moved from Heusenstamm to Sigmaringen, where he died on March 13, 2009.
