Uwe Jacob (* 1956 in Duisburg ) is a German police officer and has been the police chief in Cologne since July 12, 2017.

Police career

Uwe Jacob began his police career on April 1, 1974. He completed his training as a senior police enforcement service at the Police Command Academy in Münster-Hiltrup in 1991. From 1991 to 2001 Uwe Jacob held various management positions in the district police authorities in Essen and Wesel .

In 2001, Uwe Jacob moved to the Düsseldorf district government , where he initially worked as a department head for crime and state security and then as the main department head for police matters.

From 2007 to 2010 he then moved to the State Criminal Police Office in North Rhine-Westphalia for the first time - among other things as head of the department for investigative support. From 2010 to 2013 Uwe Jacob worked in the Ministry of the Interior and Local Affairs of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia as head of department for crime affairs and as a representative of the state director of crime. From December 1, 2013 to July 11, 2017, Uwe Jacob was the director of the State Criminal Police Office in North Rhine-Westphalia.

On July 11, 2017, he was proposed as the successor to Jürgen Mathies as police chief in Cologne; Uwe Jacob began serving as police chief on July 12, 2017.

He is married and has four kids. He has lived in Moers since 1992 .
