Uwe Vorkötter

Uwe Vorkötter (born December 7, 1953 in Bochum ) is a German journalist .

Life

Uwe Vorkötter studied economics in Tübingen and was awarded a Dr. rer. pol is doing his PhD. He then completed a journalistic training with the Stuttgarter Zeitung . From 1980 to 1984, Vorkötter worked for this paper as a business editor and as a correspondent for EC , NATO and the Benelux countries in Brussels , and later as a correspondent in Bonn . From 1985 to 1991 he was head of the business editorial department of the Stuttgarter Zeitung and from 1995 to 2001 its editor-in-chief.

In 2002 moved to Vorkötter Berliner Zeitung , where he served as editor until he was in May 2006 due to strategic differences with the new owner David Montgomery of Berliner Verlag separated. On July 1, 2006, Vorkötter succeeded Wolfgang Storz as the new editor-in-chief of the Frankfurter Rundschau .

After the Cologne publisher M. DuMont Schauberg had taken over the Berliner Verlag from Montgomery, Vorkötter returned to the position of editor-in-chief of the Berliner Zeitung on June 1, 2009 , where, among other things, it was his task to establish closer cooperation between the Berliner Zeitung and Frankfurter Rundschau , both of which have been part of the DuMont editorial community since 2010 .

On July 1, 2012, Vorkötter was “kicked out” and the function of joint editor-in-chief of Berliner Zeitung and Frankfurter Rundschau was canceled. A rift between Vorkötter and Alfred Neven DuMont was named as the cause . At the Frankfurter Rundschau , Vorkötter was replaced by Arnd Festerling ; at the Berliner Zeitung , Brigitte Fehrle took over . Vorkötter then supported the board of DuMont-Schauberg as a consultant for digital products.

On March 1, 2013, Vorkötter joined the Berlin agency Consultum Communications as Managing Partner . In 2014 he became editor-in-chief of Horizont -Medien Print and Online.

In 2000, Vorkötter was awarded the Karl Hermann Flach Prize by the Friedrich Naumann Foundation .
