Václav Srb (born August 1, 1987 ) is a Czech grass skier . He is a member of the Czech national grass ski team, won two medals at junior world championships and has been one of the top five in the World Cup so far.

Career

Srbs first major event was the Junior World Championship in 2002 in Nové Město na Moravě . Here, however, he only finished 26th in the Super-G, he could not finish the slalom and the giant slalom. A year later, he made it into the top 10 twice at the 2003 Junior World Championships in Goldingen : He finished seventh in the slalom and, with 27th place in the Super-G, he reached eighth place in the combined ranking. At the end of August 2003, he contested his first two World Cup races in Nové Město na Moravě . He was able to get his first World Cup point with rank 30 in the slalom. At the Junior World Championship in 2004 in Rettenbach , Srbs was the only result of sixth place in the Super-G. At the end of August he took part again in the World Cup races in Nové Město na Moravě and this time reached places 27 and 29 in the two giant slaloms. At the Junior World Championships in 2005 , the Czech only finished in the giant slalom and finished twelve. He did not take part in World Cup races in the 2005 season, his best result in FIS races was eleventh place in the slalom in Rettenbach. Also in the 2006 season, Srb did not contest any World Cup races, as the best result in FIS races this year he achieved fifth place in the Slalom of Traisen . As in the previous two years, Srb only crossed the finish line in one race at the 2006 Junior World Championship in Horní Lhota u Ostravy , but this time he was able to enjoy the bronze medal in the Super-G.

In June 2007, Srb finished third in the Traisen slalom for the first time in an FIS race on the podium. At the beginning of August he won the bronze medal in slalom at the Junior World Championships 2007 in Welschnofen and was sixth in the Super-G. A week later he started in the giant slalom in Čenkovice for the first time in three years in a World Cup race, but failed in the second round. In September he took part in the 2007 World Championships in Olešnice v Orlických horách . Here he reached eleventh place in the slalom, 14th place in the Super-G and 18th place in the giant slalom as well as in the super combined. At the beginning of the 2008 World Cup season he came 13th in the Rettenbach Super Combined. In July he also took part in the World Cup races in Čenkovice, but did not finish in either of the two. In the overall World Cup, Srb took 34th place. In the 2009 season, the Czech only started in the two World Cup races in Čenkovice, but fell out of both competitions as in the previous year. At the 2009 World Championships in Rettenbach, Srb finished 26th in the Super-G and 27th in the giant slalom. In the slalom and in the super combination, he did not reach the goal. On July 4, 2010, he surprised everyone with fifth place in the slalom in Čenkovice - his best World Cup result so far. After the competitions in Čenkovice, he only took part in the final races in Italy in the 2010 season, where he was three times among the fastest 20. In the overall World Cup he improved by five places to 29th place, which he shared with the Austrian Michael Krückel .

On July 2, 2011 Srb achieved his second top 10 placement in the World Cup with tenth place in the super combination of Olešnice v Orlických horách. The third followed on September 16 with ninth place in the giant slalom in Forni di Sopra . In the overall World Cup of the 2011 season, he finished 25th. He did not take part in the World Cup that year. In the 2012 season , Srb only started at the two World Cup races in Předklášteří . After a failure and a disqualification, however, he remained without result.

From 2003 to 2005, Srb also took part in several FIS races in alpine skiing , but only achieved positions around 50th place.
