Michael Krückel (born November 22, 1988 ) is an Austrian grass skier . He is a member of the A-squad of the Austrian Ski Association and has been in the top ten three times in the World Cup . His younger sister Daniela is also a grass skier.

Career

After several successes at Austrian school championships, Krückel started in FIS races for the first time in June and July 2003 , but only came under the fastest 30 times. In the 2004 season, his best result at FIS races was 15th place in Maria Gugging's giant slalom . In the same year he took part in a junior world championship for the first time in Rettenbach and achieved 20th place in the slalom as the best result. At the end of August 2004 he competed in Nové Město na Moravě in his first three World Cup races , in which he did not get into the points. In the next two years Krückel did not drive any world cup races, he only took part in FIS races and the junior world championships. In the 2005 season was his best result in FIS races 16th place in slalom in Chiomonte , 2006, he came in giant slalom in Chiomonte and in the slalom in Marbachegg also the 16th rank In the Junior World Championship in 2005 he could in the slalom and in combination with classify the best 20, at the Junior World Championships 2006 he reached 12th place in slalom and 14th place in giant slalom.

In the 2007 season , Krückel took part again in several World Cup races and came in four times in the top 30, which he finished 27th in the overall standings. At the Junior World Championships in 2007 he was tenth in slalom, 13th in giant slalom and super combined and 17th in super G. In September 2007 he also took part in a world championship in the general class for the first time and achieved 23rd place in the slalom as the best result. In the 2008 season , his World Cup results improved significantly. On August 16 he was twelfth in the Super-G in Marbachegg and the next day he finished 14th in the giant slalom. With another three placements among the top 20, he reached 22nd place in the overall ranking. At the Junior World Championships in 2008 , he finished ninth in the super combined, 14th in the Super-G and 16 in the giant slalom. During the 2009 World Cup season , Krückel made it into the top 20 four times, but fell back to 41st place overall. At the 2009 World Championships in Rettenbach, he reached 14th place in slalom, 30th place in Super-G and 36th place in giant slalom. In the super combination he was eliminated in the slalom run.

At the beginning of the 2010 season, Krückel finished ninth in the slalom of Čenkovice for the first time among the top ten of a World Cup race and at the end of the season he achieved his best position so far with sixth place in the slalom of Sestriere . In the overall World Cup he was equal on points with the Czech Václav Srb 29. In the 2011 season , Krückel won only once, as 21st of the super combined in Olešnice v Orlických horách , World Cup points. At the beginning of the 2011 World Cup in Goldingen , Krückel had a hard fall in training for the first competition, the Super-G. He was therefore unable to take part in any further races for the rest of the year. In the 2012 season , Krückel's best World Cup result was eighth in the giant slalom in Dizin on August 24th. Another four times he was among the top 15, making him 14th in the overall World Cup.
