Valentin Boltz

Valentin Boltz , also Valentin Bolz (* before 1515 in Rufach in Alsace; † July 26, 1560 in Binzen ) was a Protestant pastor , playwright , non-fiction author and translator.

Life

Valentin Boltz first served as a preacher in Alpirsbach in the service of the Duke of Württemberg , was pastor in Matt (Canton Glarus) from 1534 to 1539 , before becoming a deacon in Tübingen in 1539 . Afterwards he was active again as a pastor in various Swiss parishes: from 1542 to 1546 in Mollis and Schwanden , 1547 to 1555 as a hospital pastor in Basel , before he held the parish office in Binzen from 1559 until his death.

Valentin Boltz wrote dramas, a book on the technique of illumination and worked as a translator ( Komödien des Terence , printed in 1540). His most productive literary period fell in his Basel years.
