Valerie Fritsch

Valerie Katrin G. Fritsch (born May 14, 1989 in Graz ) is an Austrian writer and photo artist.

Life

Valerie Fritsch grew up in Graz and Carinthia and, after graduating from the Bundesgymnasium and Bundesrealgymnasium Kirchengasse in Graz, graduated from the Academy for Applied Photography in 2007.

She is a member of the literary group die plattform , an “open collective of authors settled in the Graz literary house and rolling through the (head) world”. Her first novel The Embodiment was published by Leykam in February 2011 . Her work is strongly influenced by intensive travel and she spends six to seven months a year abroad. In 2014 she traveled extensively in Togo , Benin , Nigeria and Ghana . Since her second novel Winters Garten , her works have been published by Suhrkamp Verlag in Berlin .

At the invitation of Klaus Kastberger , Valerie Fritsch took part in the Ingeborg Bachmann Prize 2015 and won the Kelag Prize and the BKS Audience Prize .
