Vanja Brodnik (born March 13, 1989 in Trebnje ) is a Slovenian ski racer .

biography

Brodnik is a member of the B-team of the Slovenian Ski Association. She competed in her first FIS races in November 2004, her first victory in February 2006. She competed in the European Cup in December 2005, and celebrated her first two victories in November 2007 at the giant slalom in Levi . This season she finished 7th in the overall European Cup ranking and 5th in the giant slalom ranking. Brodnik took part in the Junior World Championships four times (2006–2009) and achieved fifth place in the combination of Altenmarkt 2007 as the best result . The Slovenian made her debut in the World Cup on October 27, 2007 in the giant slalom in Sölden , and on December 19, 2008, she finished 22nd for the first time in the points in the super combined in St. Moritz . At the 2009 World Cup she was 27th in the Super-G. After she was unable to take part in any races for the entire 2009/10 season due to injury, she also had to end the 2010/11 season prematurely because of an ankle injury suffered in the European Cup slalom in Tarvisio on January 17th.

On December 7th, 2012 Brodnik won World Cup points for the first time in four years when she finished 28th in the super combined in St. Moritz. Five days later, she celebrated her first European Cup victory in five years at the same location. She achieved her best World Cup result so far on December 18, 2015 with 10th place in the super combined of Val-d'Isère .
