Vasileios Charalampopoulos ( Greek Βασίλης Χαραλαμπόπουλος , alternative transcription: Vasilis Charalambopoulos ; born January 6, 1997) is a professional Greek basketball player . He is a 204 cm tall small forward - power forward .

Career

Charalampopoulos spent the 2011/12 season in the Greek 3rd division with Egaleo. At the end of the season he moved to Panathinaikos Athens in the 1st division. On December 13, 2013, he came to his first appearance in the EuroLeague in an encounter against Lokomotive Kuban Krasnodar in Russia . At the age of 16 years, eleven months and seven days, Charalampopoulos became the youngest Greek player and the second youngest ever to have ever played in the EuroLeague.

In summer 2018, Charalampopoulos signed a two-year contract with GS Lavrio . Due to recurring injuries, he came to twelve missions in the 2018/19 season . In the following season, however, he was committed by Olympiacos . Charalampopoulos signed a four-year contract in Piraeus . For more match practice, he was initially awarded to the first division club Ionikos Nikeas for the 2019/20 season.

National team

With the U16 national team, he took part in the U16 European Championships in 2011, 2012 and 2013. At the 2013 tournament he won the bronze medal. In 2015 Charalampopoulos took part in the U19 World Cup and the U18 European Championship. At the U19 World Cup in Crete he reached fourth place and averaged 6.5 points and 3.3 assists in six games. At the U18 European Championship, which was also held in Greece a few weeks later, he won the gold medal after a 64:61 final victory over Turkey. Charalampopoulos finished the tournament with an average of 16.6 points, 8.1 rebounds and 5.2 assists per encounter. During the tournament he achieved three double doubles and one triple double, was awarded the title of MVP of the tournament and, together with his teammate Georgios Papagiannis, was voted into the best team.

Charalampopoulos made his debut with the men's national team on June 23, 2016 in a friendly against Turkey, which Greece won 78:52.
