Wassyl Matwijtschuk ( Ukrainian Василь Матвійчук , English transcription Vasyl Matviychuk ; born January 13, 1982 in Kamjanez-Podilskyj ) is a Ukrainian long-distance runner who specializes in the marathon .

In 2001 he became the European junior cross-country champion . In 2004, 2005 and 2009 he was national champion over 10,000 m and in 2005 over 5000 m .

In his debut over this distance, he came in 2004 in the New York City Marathon in 13th place. In 2005 he was third and in 2006 fifth at the Maratona d'Italia . Eighth place at the Venice Marathon 2007 was followed the following year by a fifth at the Turin Marathon in his personal best of 2:10:36 h. He qualified for the marathon of the Olympic Games in Beijing , where he finished 27th.

In 2009 he finished third in the Turin Half Marathon and won the Maratona d'Italia. At the European Athletics Championships in Barcelona in 2010 , he came in 27th.
