The Vecchio is a river in France that runs in the Haute-Corse department on the island of Corsica . Its source stream rises under the name Ruisseau de Fulminato between the summit Punta dell 'Oriente (2112 m) and the Col de Vizzavona pass , in the municipality of Vivario . The river generally drains in a north-easterly direction through the Corsica Regional Nature Park and after 24 kilometers flows into the Tavignano as a right tributary at the municipal boundary of Noceta and Venaco . In its middle reaches the valley of the Vecchio is used by the national road 193 and by the railway line from Ajaccio to Bastia or Calvi . The imposing Vecchio Viaduct crosses the river valley just north of Vivario .
