Venaco is a commune in the French Haute-Corse on the Mediterranean island of Corsica . It belongs to the canton of Corte in the arrondissement of Corte . The residents call themselves Vénacais .

geography

Venaco is located about eight kilometers south of Corte on a flank of the 2453 m high Monte Cardo mountain range, which consists largely of granite . The settlement area consists of the villages Seraggio and Lugo, which are called U Serraghju and U Lucu di Vènacu in Corsican . The neighboring municipalities are Casanova , Santo-Pietro-di-Venaco and Riventosa in the north, Erbajolo and Altiani in the north-east, Noceta in the east and south-east, Muracciole in the south-east, Vivario in the south and south-west, Guagno in the west and Corte in the north-west.
