Vivario (Corsican: Vivariu ) is a French commune with 432 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Haute-Corse department on the island of Corsica . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Corte and the Canton of Corte . The locals call themselves Vivariais or Vivariacci .
Geography and traffic
The municipality is located in the Corsican mountains, in the catchment area of the Vecchio River . The neighboring municipalities are Venaco in the northwest and north, Noceta in the northeast, Muracciole in the east, Ghisoni in the southeast, Bocognano in the south, Pastricciola in the southwest and Guagno in the west. The village is served by the Corsican railway called Chemins de fer de la Corse . The most important road connections are the Route nationale 193 and the departmental roads D69 and D343.
The hamlet of Vizzavona belongs to Vivario . The highest point in the district is Monte d'Oro at 2389 m. ü. M.
