Culture and sights

The castle Castelluccio was in 1202 for the Count built of Corsica. According to the Corsican historian Giovanni della Grossa (* 1388), it was built on behalf of the legendary Giudice de Cinarca (actually Sinucello Della Rocca , 1221 to 1306 or 1312). However, he was not born in 1202. The ruins of the castle include a defensive wall , a tower and a fortress house .

The Saint-Cyr et Saint-Julitte church is dedicated to Saints Quiricus and Julitta . It was first mentioned in 1646 and was probably built at the beginning of the 17th century. It was restored in the 19th century. The church tower was built in 1899. The plan of the church is in the shape of a Latin cross . In the church there are six paintings from the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries. A painting from the 17th century shows John the Baptist at the age of about ten years sitting on a stone in a landscape. It may come from the collection of Cardinal Joseph Fesch (1763–1839). The work was classified as a Monument historique ('historical monument') in 2005 . One of the side altars also dates from the 17th century. It is dedicated to Saint Roch of Montpellier .

In the north of the municipality, near the hamlet of Chioselli, are the ruins of an old hydroelectric power station from the second quarter of the 20th century. A dilapidated bridge from the colonial days of the Republic of Genoa (before 1768) stands south of the hydroelectric power station. An old railway bridge from the last quarter of the 19th century leads in the northwest of the municipality near the hamlet of Vergaghio over the Golo.
