history

The existing municipality of Veiga de Lila was attached to the district of Carrazedo de Montenegro when it was newly created in the 16th century. In the course of the various administrative reforms after the Liberal Revolution in 1822 , the district was finally dissolved completely in 1853 , and Veiga de Lila has since been part of the Valpaços district.
