Association of Pedagogy Teachers

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Association of Pedagogy Teachers (VdP eV) is an association of teachers from the pedagogical subject group. The office is currently in Wesel . The VdP organizes teachers who teach pedagogy , educational science or educational sciences , educational theory, didactics - methodology , social pedagogy or social work at grammar schools, comprehensive schools , vocational schools , vocational colleges , vocational high schools, advanced training colleges or academies ( Bavaria ). The VdP was founded in 1979. The current chairman is Carsten Püttmann .

The journal for members published by VdP is called PädagogikUNTERRICHT .

Focus of work

A central goal of the association is the content and didactic development of the pedagogical subject group. That happens u. a. at training courses and specialist discussions as well as at general meetings. The Pedagogy Teachers' Day (PLT) has been taking place since 1990 as a central advanced training event for pedagogy teachers at a German university ; it is one of the largest teacher training events in German-speaking countries. This annual congress takes up central and current general educational, school educational, didactic and educational policy topics that are worked on by scientists . The VdP documents these events on DVD for training and further education purposes .

There are specialized training courses tailored to their needs for trainee students . In this way, the VdP also supports the training of young pedagogy teachers.

A working group promotes the practical work of the teacher with the help of the further training initiative for pedagogy lessons (WIPU) through two to four further training events annually in order to enable the didactic differentiation according to the specific requirements in the respective pedagogical field of work and in contact with the teachers.

During the training, reciprocal contacts between the pedagogy teachers are made possible, initiatives are started and problem areas for the further work of the association are identified. These events also allow colleagues from the various federal states to exchange ideas.

Regular contact with those responsible in ministries, the district governments and specialist commissions is important for the association's work in order to represent the interests of the subjects of the pedagogical subject group. In addition, regular contact with scientific institutions and scientists is important. It is also part of the VdP's self-image to be up to date with the latest scientific discussions.

Public relations are a key area of work. In the area of society as a whole, basic pedagogical education still does not get the recognition it deserves as a central field of practice. In the vocational school system, the acquisition of pedagogical skills is undisputed and is made possible at the vocational schools of all federal states. It is a requirement of the VdP that the same skills and abilities must be acquired in the area of home upbringing and education, which is not yet heard equally in all cultural authorities. The focus here is particularly on the lower secondary level.

Office

Organizationally, all events are supervised by the office, in particular the annual pedagogy teacher day (PLT), the referendum day and the WIPU events (further training initiative pedagogy teaching). All teaching and information materials offered by the VdP are sent through them. In addition, the employees of the office are available to advise the members. Information about the subject of education is also passed on to non-members and public institutions.

Organization of publications

Significant parts of the work of the VdP are both the regular publications and the organization of advanced training courses on fundamental subjects of teaching in the pedagogical subject group. These two aspects are closely linked, as many training courses are documented. Members receive z. B. or can refer to:

  • DVDs of Pedagogy Teacher Days (PLT), the largest day event of a professional association nationwide; PLT is the annual general meeting of the VdP in connection with differentiated training courses on current topics in education in cooperation with scientists who work on outstanding projects.
  • Propädix - the series of materials for pedagogy lessons ; there are about 20 volumes; the content of which is based on the focus of the central high school diploma. The series contains tried and tested teaching projects on current topics.
  • The professional journal PädagogikUNTERRICHT has been the organ of the Association of Pedagogy Teachers since 1980. It appears three times a year; one of the numbers is a double booklet. The magazine offers technical and didactic articles, information on teaching careers and news from the field of pedagogical teaching in Germany.
  • The Didactica Nova series - there are now around 30 volumes - contains publications by scientists and didactics experts on the state of research.

In addition, the association sells a lot of information and material collections on pedagogy lessons.

Education policy demands

The VdP's demand on the state ministries of education to introduce education as a compulsory subject in all school types in Germany is very old: alongside law, politics and economics, education is one of the four major areas of social practice. The then chairman Eckehardt Knöpfel (2004) combines the demand with the ideas:

Composition of the members

The VdP currently has approx. 2700 members. When it was founded, the VdP was an association of high school teachers who taught pedagogy in North Rhine-Westphalia. Members from other federal states were also accepted very quickly. Only gradually did colleagues from the field of vocational training join them. Above all, due to the rapid growth in the number of students in vocational high schools, in whose curriculum educational science / pedagogy is a frequently chosen subject, more teachers from other federal states came to the VdP. At the moment, the colleagues from North Rhine-Westphalia are still in the majority, but the balance is shifting. The VdP is now by far the largest professional association for pedagogy teachers in Germany. There are also members in Austria, Switzerland and Italy (South Tyrol).

In individual federal states, state spokespersons for the VdP represent the interests of colleagues vis-à-vis the authorities and the public. In some federal states, regional pedagogy teacher days are also held (e.g. in Berlin / Brandenburg , Hamburg , Bremen , Lower Saxony , Baden-Württemberg , Rhineland-Palatinate ).
