from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Eckehardt Knöpfel (born March 11, 1946 in Neumühle / Elster ) is a German educator , author and publicist . From 1995 to 2003 he was chairman of the Association of Educational Teachers (Wesel). In addition to his professional activity as a teacher at the grammar school, he wrote and published numerous books and essays on pedagogy , textbook literature (pedagogy, didactics) and educational policy in Germany . With his extensive publications, his many years of association work and publication activity for various publishers, Knöpfel is considered a profound expert and imaginative stimulator of the didactic discussion in education.

biography

After fleeing the GDR , he lived with his family in Franconia. He graduated from high school in 1966 at the Hans-Sachs-Gymnasium in Nuremberg . From 1966 to 1972 he studied Protestant theology , pedagogy and German studies at the Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen , the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn and the University Duisburg-Essen . In 1971 he did his doctorate with Walter Kreck as a master of theology (Mag. Theol.) And in 2013 with Armin Bernhard as a doctor of philosophy on Erich E. Geissler's integrative-educational specialist didactics of pedagogy classes.

E. Knöpfel lives in Wesel. He is the son of Horst Bernhard Knöpfel .

Professional background

Knöpfel's professional career began after his legal clerkship at the study seminar (1973–1974) in Duisburg in 1974 at the grammar school in Voerde / Niederrhein as a teacher. In 1978 he became Director of Education specialist at Studienseminar secondary education Oberhausen. From 1982 he was a specialist advisor at the Düsseldorf district government . In addition, he received teaching assignments for didactics at the universities of Duisburg-Essen and Potsdam.

In 2014 Knöpfel worked together with Elmar Wortmann and in 2016 with Carsten Püttmann the editor of the book series “Didactica Nova”, which dealt with subject-related didactic and subject-methodological problems in teaching. Shortly afterwards he was also the editor of the textbook series "Propädix" with teaching materials for the pedagogical subject group at general and vocational schools. He became a member of the editorial board of the journal PädagogikUNTERRICHT , the Association of Pedagogy Teachers (VdP) in 1991.

School policy and subject didactic accents

From 1995 to 2003 Eckehardt Knöpfel was chairman of the Association of Pedagogy Teachers. During this time he intensified his commitment to educational policy and specialist didactics. In 1990 he founded the pedagogy teacher days (PLT), at which central subject and school pedagogy as well as educational policy issues are dealt with far beyond the subject of pedagogy. They take place annually at a university and with an outstanding scientist.

In 2014 Knöpfel became honorary chairman of the VdP and from 2004 managing director of the association. “Hardly anyone has shown such commitment and versatility in teaching pedagogy (...) As chairman of the Association of Pedagogy Teachers, he has set the tone for a long time and set the course (...) has developed textbooks and textbook series; He initiated other series by organizing teams of authors and thus made the creation of the books possible. "

Knöpfel's didactic position was decisively shaped by the meeting with Klaus Beyer. Beyer led the specialist seminar on education at the Duisburg study seminar, to which Knöpfel was assigned. Beyer's first preparatory work, from which his didactic position grew, arose out of the discussion with the trainee lawyers. When the series "Didactica Nova" was founded and published by Knöpfel in 1997, Beyers' three-volume specialist didactics were among their first volumes (volumes 2, 3 and 4). What was particularly convincing was a constructive, educational concept to be implemented in the classroom, which was based on preliminary work by Brezenika. The compatibility with other central concepts of pedagogy lessons such as learning or development also made it advisable for Knöpfel to continue working in a study seminar and university. The fact that Beyer's didactics, based on educational theory, had a poorly elaborated concept of education did not initially bother much, because the curriculum specifications for teaching in North Rhine-Westphalia also clearly focused on the concept of education.

Only when Knöpfel came to grips with EEGeissler's didactics of pedagogy did this deficit become clear. However, Geissler's specialist didactics lacks a comprehensive description of the term upbringing. Both Beyer and Geissler's didactic model, based on educational theory, are therefore one-sided, because they initially only focus on the concept of education (Beyer) or the concept of education (Geissler) and construct their system from there. In the course of the subject-didactic debate of the early 21st century (e.g. BE Wortmann: "Pedagogical Perspective"), Beyer has significantly expanded his concept and in writing granted the concept of education the status that he has always had unspoken in his subject didactics.

In Knöpfel's didactic publications, Beyer's pragmatic approach is now linked with that of Geisser's finalizing education. Upbringing and education thus become the fundamental concepts of pedagogy lessons. The species-forming feature is the resulting duplicity of the concept of education: on the one hand as the central content of pedagogy lessons and on the other hand, the promotion of educational development, which is transferred to pedagogy lessons before all other subjects.
