Verena Hoehne
Verena Hoehne (born January 14, 1945 in Lausanne ; † January 25, 2012 in Zurich ) was a Swiss cultural journalist and author.
Life
After attending schools in Baden and Zurich, Verena Hoehne studied theater studies in Marburg, Zurich, Munich and Vienna and received her doctorate on the subject of Das Zürcher Schauspielhaus 1945–1965 .
As a cultural journalist, Verena Hoehne has been working for Swiss television since 1972 , where she was responsible for her own theater program headlights and, as a filmmaker, wrote numerous theater portraits, documentaries and news reports. For the station 3sat she conducted the series of talks, Encounters . In the 1980s and 1990s, Verena Hoehne was voiceover for the news program Tagesschau , commentator in German for the live broadcasts of the Prix de Lausanne ballet event and presenter of Café Philo for the cultural format Sternstunde Philosophie. Guests at her conversations and documentaries included Max Frisch , Friedrich Dürrenmatt , Elias Canetti , Maria Becker , Ernst Schröder , Karl Paryla , Franz Hohler , Wolf Biermann and Emil Steinberger .
From 1990 to 2001, Verena Hoehne was a member of the board of directors at the Neumarkt Theater in Zurich and a member of the Swiss Society for Theater Culture. At the Schauspielhaus Zürich she presented the series Narrated Theater History 1938–1992 together with Urs Bircher and hosted matinees with Giorgio Strehler, Georg Tabori, Benno Besson and Werner Düggelin.
Verena Hoehne also lived out her passion for theater as the author of several non-fiction books ( Zürcher Theater Spektakel , Swiss Theater Yearbook), as a lecturer at the Zurich University of Music and Theater, co-director at a small theater in Bern and as a juror at the Secondo theater competition. She is also responsible for readings (including a scenic series of stories about Erich Kästner ), newspaper reviews and radio reports.
In her hometown of Baden she was known as the moderator of the PhiloThik series of talks , diverse engagement in the cabaret scene and through appearances at the Figura Festival. She realized a lifelong dream by participating in the Teatro Palino, most recently as an actress in the piece, developed with Mathias Dix, satisfaction? No thanks! (with Simona Hofmann and Marc Palino Brunner).
Verena Hoehne died on January 25, 2012 in Zurich after a year-long illness.
