Verzasca is the name of a political municipality in the canton of Ticino , Switzerland , which will come into being on April 5, 2021 .
The new municipality will cover almost the entire Verzasca Valley . It will be created through the merger of the following previously independent municipalities or the following municipal parts:
- Brione (Verzasca) municipality
- Corippo municipality
- Frasco municipality
- the area Lavertezzo Valle of the community Lavertezzo (entire municipal area without the exclave of Riazzino in Magadinoebene).
- Sonogno municipality
- Vogorno municipality
- the Gerra Valle area of the municipality of Cugnasco-Gerra (the entire municipality of the former municipality of Gerra (Verzasca) excluding the Gerra Piano area in the Magadino plain, which was merged with Cugnasco ).
One of the goals is the territorial unbundling of the municipal areas that were created by the farming practices of the farmers in the Verzasca Valley, whose affiliation has now become dysfunctional.
What is to happen to the exclave Riazzino (also called Riazzino Piano ) is not yet clear from the announced changes to the official municipality register of March 2019.
