history
After most of the farmers of the Wigstadtl estate bought themselves out of the Robot in 1795 and only the Häusler had to afford foot robots, the estate began with the parceling of the manorial Meierhöfe . In 1801 the Wigstadtler citizenship bought the snail farm from Emanuel von Zawisch-Ossenitz and founded a colony on the site of the farm.
In 1834 the Schneckenhof colony consisted of 8 houses in which 41 German-speaking people lived. The main sources of income were agriculture and linen weaving. The parish and school location was Wigstadtel. Until the middle of the 19th century, Schneckenhof remained subordinate to the minority Wigstadtel.
After the abolition of patrimonial the Schneckenhof / Šnekovec colony belonged to the municipality of Oberdorf / Horní Ves in the judicial district of Wigstadtl from 1849 . From 1869 they became part of the Troppau district. After the establishment of Czechoslovakia , the Czech place name was changed to Veselka in 1919 . In 1920 the colony was incorporated into Wigstadtl together with Wigstadtl Oberdorf ( Vítkov Horní Ves ).
In the 1921 census, 51 Germans lived in the 12 houses in Schneckenhof / Veselka . Away from the settlement was the Hegerhaus of the same name. After the Munich Agreement , Schneckenhof was assigned to the German Reich in 1938 and belonged to the Troppau district until 1945 . After the end of the Second World War in 1945 Veselka came back to Czechoslovakia, most of the German-speaking residents were expelled . In 1949, Veselka was assigned to the newly formed Okres Vítkov, which was repealed in the 1960 territorial reform. From 1961 Veselka received the status of a district.
