The Vespa Rally 200 (type designation: VSE1T ) is a motor scooter of the Vespa series by Piaggio , which was manufactured and sold from 1972 to 1979.
Model description
The Vespa Rally 200 is the first Vespa model with electronic ignition . Derived from the Vespa Rally 180 , the engine developed up to 12 HP, which was the top engine of Vespas for many years. The engine is a type VSE1M , a single - cylinder two-stroke piston with flat pistons (bore 66.5 mm, stroke 57 mm; compression ratio: 1: 8.2), 3-channel reverse flushing and rotary valve control , cast iron cylinder with light metal cylinder head and mixture lubrication (1: 50). The tank holds 8.2 liters, of which 1.8 liters reserve. The manual four-speed gearbox with draw-wedge gear shifts the power directly to the rear wheel.
The model had white “rally stripes” on the front fenders and side panels, models with a white body had silver-gray stripes. In addition, there was a lettering "Electronic" that indicated the electronic ignition. The previous Rally 180 was missing this lettering. The Italian model had no direction indicators , the German model was with Hella - handlebar end blinkers fitted. The handlebar width without direction indicators is 675 mm and with 690 mm. In contrast to the Italian model, the Austrian model was equipped with a flasher.
The Vespa Rally 200 is one of the most reliable and popular of the classic Vespa models.
