Model history

The Vespa 160 GS, built in 2 series, is in the tradition of the manufacturer Piaggio to offer a sportier model within a series. It was the successor to the Vespa GS 150 ("GS3").

features

  • The Vespa 160 GS was equipped with the lighter shell frame type used from 1959 and the newly developed drive unit swing arm (up to the “GS3” model, the models of the Vespa “GS150” series were with the so-called wideframe frame and the “wideframe motor “(Drive set with separately mounted swing arm).
  • With the GS 160, a newly designed front swing arm with spring-damper unit was used for the first time , which was otherwise only available on the successor model Vespa 180 SS (the Vespa GS150 and all other Vespas were still with the front swing arm with a separate from the shock absorber mounted on the coil spring.)
  • In both series, models of the first series can be identified by the tool compartment flap located above the rear light.
