Victor Lee "Vic" Auer (born March 24, 1937 in Santa Ana , † May 3, 2011 in Thousand Oaks ) was an American sports shooter .

successes

Victor Auer took part in the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich and 1976 in Montreal with the small-bore rifle in the prone position over 50 m in part. In 1972 he scored 598 points, one point behind Olympic champion Ri Ho-jun . Due to the better last series of shots, Auer was classified ahead of Nicolae Rotaru , who was tied on points , and won the silver medal. Four years later he did not get past 31st place with 588 points. In 1974 Auer was runner-up in the team competition with the small-bore rifle in the prone position in Thun . He won three gold medals at Pan-American Games : in 1971 he won both the individual and team competitions in Cali with the small-bore rifle in the prone position, and in 1975 he was again successful with the team in Mexico City .

Auer served in both the US Air Force and the US Army . He also studied at UCLA . After his active career he worked as a screenwriter and shooting sports trainer.
