Victor Max Colani (born October 30, 1895 in Zittau , German Empire , † November 25, 1957 in The Hague , Netherlands ) was a German actor .

Live and act

The son of the theater and silent film actor Ludwig Colani came to film as a child through his father. His first permanent stage engagement can be proven in 1916 in Potsdam . After an engagement in Kassel , Victor Colani returned to Berlin in the early 1920s , where he also played theater. He celebrated successes in the Weimar Republic , especially in operettas at the Theater des Westens , the Metropoltheater and the Großes Schauspielhaus . Colani continued to appear in front of the camera until the end of the silent film era.

From the beginning of the 1930s he was mostly unemployed, after 1933 Colani had to emigrate for racial reasons. During the Second World War he appeared in revues in the Netherlands. When it became known in 1942 that Victor Colani was a so-called " half-Jew " according to the Nuremberg race laws , his performance permit was canceled and the artist was banned from performing in March 1943. After the war, Colani stayed in the Netherlands.
