Viivi Katariina Lehikoinen (born August 27, 1999 in Helsinki ) is a Finnish athlete who specializes in the 400-meter hurdles .

Athletic career

In 2015 Viivi Lehikoinen took part for the first time in a major international event, the European Youth Olympic Festival in Tbilisi , where she won the gold medal in the hurdles and took fifth place with the Finnish 4 x 100 meter relay. A year later she won the gold medal over 400 m hurdles again at the U18 European Championships , which were held for the first time . In 2017 she qualified for the U20 European Championships in Grosseto , where she won the bronze medal behind the Slovenian Agata Zupin with a new national junior record . In addition, she took seventh place with the Finnish 4 x 400 meter relay.

In 2018 she participated in the U20 World Championships in Tampere , where she was eliminated in the hurdles with 57.70 s in the semifinals and failed with the Finnish relay in 3: 39.58 min in the preliminary round. In August she also took part in the European Championships in Berlin , where she was eliminated with 58.43 seconds. The following year she reached seventh place in 58.24 s at the U23 European Championships in Gävle .

In 2017 Lehikoinen became Finnish indoor champion with her club's 4 x 200 meter relay. In 2018 she was the first time champion over 400 m hurdles.
