Viktor von Brasch

Victor Ernst Arthur von Brasch (born July 14, 1850 in Ropkoy , Dorpat district , † May 20, 1877 in Saint Petersburg ) was a national economist and came from the German-Baltic noble family von Brasch .

Career

Victor attended grammar school in Dorpat from 1860 to 1867, after which he stayed in Switzerland for health reasons . From 1870 to 1874 he studied economics at the universities of Berlin , Heidelberg and Leipzig . After completing his studies, he received his doctorate. oec. pol., the focus of his work was the drafting of a general theory of the financial system of the municipalities. About this he published his work "The municipality and its finance in France". In 1875 he was appointed deputy fine judge ordered in Tartu. Politically, he advocated the rapprochement between the Baltic provinces and the Russian Empire and stayed for a long time in Saint Petersburg . He supported his father in the management of the property, was active as a composer and in a very short time collected over 1200 manuscripts and books.

Origin and family

Victor Ernst came from the German-Baltic noble family von Brasch. His father was Leonhard Karl Gustav von Brasch (1811–1867), master of Ropkoy, Renningshof and Hohensee in Livonia . He was married to Ida Anna von Richter (1818–1902). The district administrator Arved Konrad von Brasch (1847–1899) was his brother and Konrad August von Brasch (1820–1884) was his paternal uncle. Victor was single and died in Saint Petersburg at the age of 28.
