Vilija Birbalaitė

Vilija Birbalaitė (born August 11, 1966 in Grygališkė , Šilutė County ) is a Lithuanian long-distance runner .

Life

Birbalaitė was Lithuanian champion four times in cross-country running (1992, 1996–1998), twice over 3000 m (1994, 1996) and once each over 1500 m (1996), 5000 m (2000), 10,000 m (1995) and in the marathon (1992 ). In the hall she won a national title over 1500 m (1994) and three over 3000 m (1992-1994).

She started twice in the half marathon world championships : in 1997 in Košice she came in 63rd place and in 1998 in Uster in 78th place. Her greatest success in a road race is fourth place in the Hamburg Marathon 2000.

Vilija Birbalaitė lives in Germany and works as a trainer at the Plettenberger Sport Club.
