Vill så gärna tro (in German, for example: Would like to believe it ..., English title Want So Much To Believe ) is a Swedish film romance from 1971 . Gunnar Höglund wrote, directed and produced the film.
The film premiered at a festival in Stockholm on September 4, 1971 . The role of the composer Robert is played by the American pop singer Johnny Nash , who also recorded the soundtrack for the film. The soundtrack says u. a. Also heard the Jamaican reggae musician Bob Marley on guitar, who was then in Sweden and two years later made his international breakthrough in Europe.

The Swedish flight attendant Lillemor falls in love with the American composer Robert, who is her jazz ballet teacher. Since Robert is of African American origin, the relationship is complicated from the start. Towards the end, they swim together on vacation in the Canary Islands , the day before Robert has to go back to the USA to do his military service.
